Sometimes, engineering comes naturally. It's applying what you know in a systematic way to whatever you're confronting. This is how I've always looked at the world - as an engineer - whether I'm a student, working as an engineer, a teacher, or a Program Coordinator working in Water Education. And I've done all those things and more! I worked as an engineer for Intel Corp. for 13 years where I learned instructional design and device physics - two disparate topics I never knew existed when I was in college, let alone imagined pursuing or enjoying at a later time. Next, I built computer networks and helped educators learn to take advantage of the Internet in their work. I taught Physical Science, Earth Science, and General Science. I've built websites (and still do) and I've taught teachers and students where our water comes from, how to conserve water, and most any other water-related topic you can think of. And most importantly, I'm a mother and a FIRST mentor. The moral of the story is that you can do and be many things in life - and thinking like an engineer will serve you in every one. I've mentored Team 2449 for three season and every year I'm so impressed by the creative and courageous students who are a part of this team. I'm inspired in some way by each of them. That's why I keep coming back.
