Harrison Koza
Hello, I'm Harrison. I'm a junior at James Madison Preparatory School and this is my third year on Team 2449. FRC has been a great experience that I have learned a lot from - from how to use power tools to better teamwork skills and increased ability to work on a schedule. The greatest thing about robotics, for me, is the ability to see something turn from an abstract concept to a set of plans, and then to a fully-functional robot. Because of this, the mechanical side of the robot is what I work on the most - it's a lot of work to get it fully operational, but it's rewarding to be able to point to a piece of the robot and say, "I built that," or "I cut that piece of aluminum with a chop-saw". I don't have a thoroughly concrete plan for what I want to do in the future, but some career paths I can see myself taking are programming, webmaster of a company website, or system administrator. Orbital definitely offers some great opportunities which I will have to keep in mind - either way, being on the team is sure to be greatly beneficial to my future.

Last Saturday, we successfully tested our new drive-train programming on our test chassis. The robot drove smoothly and was very controllable; the camera updated quickly enough to be able to drive with it if the robot is not visible from the drivers’ station. We were able to get the robot through a door that was [...]
