2001's Robot, Artimis
In all that FIRST has to offer (in addition to the allure of  the already exciting areas of programming, engineering, and technology), the robot is the focal point of all of the exciting team action.

We have high hopes for our robot this year. Last year, we achieved one of our best accomplishments: Finalists at Regionals! For this year’s Rebound Rumble, we have designed our bot very closely to last year’s Logomotion design. However, this year, instead of our roller claw, we have an amazing cannon that will hopefully blast our way to Nationals!

From the ground up, we have original parts that have proven quite successful in the past. Our wheels come from the the Lunacy competition a few years ago. Our friends at the ASU Machine Shop machined a groove around each wheel for us which we then attached a tread to to keep us maneuvering quickly and efficiently on the field. Our internal drive train gives us a safe and consistent drive that breaks rarely and stays out of the way of moving parts. This year, our mast is shorter to compensate for the extension limits. This is not a hindering factor however. Our cannon shoots far and fast and can hold up to three balls at a time. The dual-directional wheels at the front help us to both suck and shoot the basket balls quickly and effectively while the conveyor belt inside the shooter feeds the shot.

While our robot, Artemis, may be similar to last year’s Orion, it has a secret weapon. Along side with our “curb kicker” that easily moves us over the center curb, we have developed a system that can balance us half on and half off of the ramps, allowing three robots to be elevated at the end of the match. It has been a challenge, but we have hopefully established a winning system. Good luck and we’ll see you at the games!
